Dr. Pulk joined Cascade Eye Center at the end of August 2014. He relocated from the Detroit, Michigan area, drawn to the Gorge by its beauty, recreational options, and friendly people. Dr. Pulk has been in optometry practice since earning his degree from the Michigan College of Optometry in 2001, after earning his Bachelor’s degree in applied biology from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Besides practicing full-scope optometry, Dr. Pulk is a national expert in Sports Vision. He has worked with professional athletes including tennis players, golfers, and with the US Junior Olympics. With his work in the area of Sports Vision, Dr. Pulk strives to develop and utilize vision correction technology and techniques to maximize the visual processing needed for top athletic performance. He has published multiple journal articles and has a been a national speaker in the area of Sports Vision at numerous continuing education conferences and event.

Throughout his career, Dr. Pulk has had a heart of service, and has been involved with many community activities, including a medical mission trip to Dominica, volunteering as a companion for nursing home patients through Hospice of Michigan, and participating in numerous charity activities. After moving to Hood River, he helped his son launch the “Anson’s Bike Buddies” program (http://www.ansonsbikebuddies.org/). Through this program, used bicycles are received by Cascade Eye Center and other locations. These bikes are refurbished during volunteer workdays, and are given to needy children and youth. As of January 2018, Anson’s Bike Buddies has given out over 550 bicycles throughout the Gorge communities.
